Jackfruit Celery Salad
Posted on 17. Feb, 2009 by Maya in Food
I got this recipe from my aunt who told me that she hated celery until she learnt of this recipe. After that, there was no stopping her. She’s a celery fan now.
This nangka/jackfruit celery salad is a great salad to bring for potluck dinners or lunches. It’s so easy to make.
All you need are 3 ingredients:
1. ripe nangka
2. some celery
3. Japanese mayonnaise
Dice celery and nangka. Then mix well with Japanese mayonnaise. Chill for 2 hours before serving.
Japanese mayonnaise is more tangy than Krafts though you can try Krafts mayonnaise if you want.
Did I not tell you it’s simple?
The weirdest thing is, it actually tastes pretty good.

I love nangka but hate celery. So, it will be a love-hate salad for me
I know celery is good but the taste, yuck! Hope to try it soon. Maybe I’ll become a fan of celery like your aunt too!
Btw, any photo shot on the finished product?

Without being really dumb but where do you get Japanese mayonnaise?

Domino: I will try to find a photo of the finished product….
D: You can get Japanese mayo at Jusco Queensbay. I always eat blanched brocolli with Japanese mayo – tastes really good. Give it a try and you would never want to eat the non-Japanese mayo haha.

Eh? Nangka is a little bit ‘angin’, isn’t it? Each time I eat nangka, my stomach will surely feel gassy!

Clef: Yes, that is one of the unpleasant bits about nangka. Eat in moderation
or else you will be ostracised by your family!
