Download "7 Ways to Make Your Blogging Sizzle"

Just a quick note: here’s the PDF of the talk which I gave this morning at KDU Penang in conjunction with their Literary Day. Yes, this is the second year that I’ve been invited to give a talk on blogging.
(By the way, I enjoy taking part in these activities. It gives me a chance to do something which I normally don’t do – public speaking! Did you know that the fear of public speaking is the #1 fear of most people? The way to overcome this fear is to just do it. Fear or no fear, sometimes you must get out of your own comfort zone and do something different.)
If you missed out on today’s talk or want the accompanying notes, you can download “7 Ways to Make Your Blogging Sizzle” from www.mayakirana.com/dl/7blogtips.pdf

The presentation slides are not included though.
All you need to do is right-click on the link above and double-click “save target as”. You will need to have Adobe Acrobat Reader installed in your PC in order to view the saved PDF.
If you don’t have Adobe Acrobat Reader, you can get it free at http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html
More importantly, let me know your thoughts once you’ve read or gone through the PDF notes!
I look forward to hearing them!

  1. Fu-Yoh! Power man! After reading your notes, I noticed that my posts tend to be long and have unnecessary words. And I lack patience when it comes to re-reading, editing and proofreading. I’ll definitely keep tip #5 in mind next time. Thanks for sharing!
Oh, you must be famous at KDU now. LOL! 😀

  2. How was Jana’s talk? (And no, I’ve not read through the notes…yet.) I did pop into Borders just now just to see if you were coincidentally sitting on one of the sofas but you were probably at home propping your feet up at 10 o clock at night.

  3. Hi KookyMonsta: We live and learn. Hey, I am still learning too. There’s so much more that I need to learn to become a better blogger and of course, a better writer! We can share notes! 😉
Hi d: Jana was fabulous! She had lots of energy, had the audience eating right out of her hand. That woman is a powerhouse. Which reminds me, I have to email her the photos we took this morning. Borders? Hmm, too much of work to be done – but next week maybe I’ll be there. Crossing fingers.

Thanks for your encouragement to blog.I’ve been putting some serious thoughts on setting up a blog and recently my 9 year-old nephew in Singapore took me through a step-by-step learning curve to get myself registered on blogger.com and publish my first post;-)Unfortunately that remains the only post ;-(I promise to work on it as well as the website when the e book is completed.

  5. Thanks for sharing. If you are interested to attact new readers to your site through search engines, remember to use keywords used by search engine users. For example, this post is about tips on blogging. If you use Google keyword tool (https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal), the popular keywords with least competition is “blogging tips”. Therefore the title of this post could be “7 Important Blogging Tips”. The keywords have to be repeated in the post as well. The general guideline is 3%-10% of the words in the post are targeted search engine keywords. You can use keyword density tools to help you in this area, e.g. http://www.ranks.nl/tools/spider.html
